WEC – 24 HOURS OF LE MANS: PROSPEED COMPETITION IN PERFECT RACE RHYTHM

ProSpeed LeMans24h 75Porsche911GT3RSR Q3LE MANS (FRA) – The 90th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is a motorsport event that nobody wants to miss, and this also applies to ProSpeed Competition and the French drivers François Perrodo, Sébastien Crubilé and Emmanuel Collard. “Manu” Collard at the wheel of the #75 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR placed the car in sixth place in the LM GTE Am category, under highly difficult qualifying conditions. The perfect starting position for this most mythical of all endurance races, which kicks off on the dot of three o’clock on Saturday afternoon. Whereas the ProSpeed Competition drivers, the team and the car showed no signs of weakness, the weather and a whole series of incidents, resulting in red flags, were the main factors in making these qualifying sessions difficult. Notwithstanding these elements the Belgian team found the perfect cruising speed ideally suited to the race. Just after midnight Emmanuel Collard brought the ProSpeed Competition Porsche 911 GT3 RSR into the pit-lane and parked the car in the parc fermé. In the final lap of the last qualifying session of this 2013 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans “Manu” Collard had given the team a more than respectable starting position for the race. But more important than the starting position is the fact that both on Wednesday and Thursday everything ran smoothly for the team and drivers and that the successful German GT and its crew are perfectly prepared to take on the race.

Rudi Penders (Team Manager ProSpeed Competition)

ProSpeed LeMans24h 75Porsche911GT3RSR Q1“No preparation has any hold on the climatic conditions and race incidents, and these played a few tricks on us. On several occasions “Manu” was obliged to cut short a fast lap due to a red flag – that breaks off either a session temporarily or entirely due to an incident – and then valuable time is lost. However apart from that we, as a team are satisfied. The drivers and the technical crew found the ideal balance for the car, amongst others thanks to “Manu’s” experience, and at no time were we in any way involved in an incident, which also proves the fine form of our two rookies. If we carry on through in this light in the race then everything is possible. Collectively we have found our ideal cruising speed.”

François Perrodo (FRA – Driver - Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #75 – LM GTE AM)

ProSpeed LeMans24h 75Porsche911GT3RSR Pesage“The collaboration within the team is perfect and I reckon we are ready to take on this great human and sporting adventure which Le Mans is. Without the various interruptions Sébastien (Crubilé) and myself could have put in a few more laps, which is always a bonus. This would have been ideal to truly discover the circuit’s check points. Apart from that I’m really happy. Roll on Saturday!”

Emmanuel Collard (FRA – Driver - Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #75 – LM GTE AM)

ProSpeed LeMans24h 75Porsche911GT3RSR EmCollard“I’m pleased with the result, especially seeing that I was able to optimise the car’s handling at the last moment. We can now use the car’s handling during my fast laps as the basis to improve the car’s set-up for the race, in as much that it might be necessary.”
