2014 WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

6H OF FUJI BELGIAN TEAM CELEBRATES FIRST PODIUM IN THE WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

ProSpeed WEC Fuji14 Porsche911GT3RSR75 Podium1WEC FUJI (JAPAN) – The World Endurance Championship (aka WEC) is without a doubt the world’s most high ranking motorsport competition. Since this year ProSpeed Competition is competing in this championship and following the brilliant pole-position during the American round held in Austin, this Belgian team manned by the French trio Emmanuel Collard, François Perrodo and Matthieu Vaxivière have now clinched their first podium in the LM GTE Am category. The brand new Porsche 911 RSR, in the capable hands of these ProSpeed Competition drivers, has proved its debut worthiness. There are still three rounds to be held in the WEC, namely in China, Bahrain with the final in Brazil, three new challenges for ProSpeed Competition to continue improving their performance curve which started in the USA and Japan.

ProSpeed WEC Fuji14 Porsche911GT3RSR75 2The fifth race of the WEC was held under the shadow of Mount Fuji, the legendary mountain on Japan’s largest island. Following the pole-position in Austin, the motivated ProSpeed Competition team headed off for Japan. The ambition was to further build on the performance put in during the qualifying sessions and the first part of the race in the USA. In the qualifying sessions Emmanuel Collard and Matthieu Vaxivière slotted the Porsche 911 RSR (type 991) in the top 5, a mere 6 tenths from the pole-position. The potential was there and in the race the French trio brought the car home in a brilliant third place.

Rudi Penders (ProSpeed Competition Team Principal)

ProSpeed WEC Fuji14 Porsche911GT3RSR75 1“This is an unbelievable performance, in fact a dream that has become reality. The World Endurance Championship or FIA WEC is of an exceptionally high level and within half a season we have successfully managed to hoist ourselves up amongst the top 3 in the championship. It definitely hasn’t been an easy journey, but with the results in Austin and now here in Fuji we have proven that we have our place at this level. It goes without saying that this result is the combination of a faultless race put in by the drivers, an unfailing strategy from the team, perfectly executed pit stops and last but not least also a new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR that once more emphasizes why Porsche remains the top reference marque in endurance racing. I cannot wait for the next race in China, on Sunday 2nd November.”

François Perrodo (Driver - #75 ProSpeed Porsche 911 RSR LM GTE Am)

ProSpeed WEC Fuji14 Porsche911GT3RSR75 ECollard FrPerrodo MVaxiviere“I have known ProSpeed Competition for quite a while now and I was convinced that together with the team we would be able to hold our own at this level, otherwise we would not have opted in for it. The first part of the story came about in Austin and now we have added a brilliant chapter here. I personally had some great satisfaction from this race, with brilliant battles with some of the other gentlemen drivers in the LM GTE Am category. The regulations are laid out in such a way that we always find ourselves going head-to-head and that is an additional motivation. I fully agree with Rudi (Penders): bring on China!”

Matthieu Vaxivière (Driver - #75 ProSpeed Porsche 911 RSR LM GTE Am)

ProSpeed WEC Fuji14 Porsche911GT3RSR75 3“I’m experiencing a great sporting Indian Summer. My results in single-seaters are good, with amongst others a podium place in front of a home crowd. Now we have this podium in the World Championship, what more could a young driver ask for? Thanks also to François I have been given a great opportunity within the team and I thank them in this way!”

Emmanuel Collard (Driver - #75 ProSpeed Porsche 911 RSR LM GTE Am)

ProSpeed WEC Fuji14 Porsche911GT3RSR75 4”It was an extremely tough battle with amongst others Klaus Bac hler for that third place on the podium, but it was a fair fight at a top level. I completed the work put in by my teammates who drove a brilliant race and who handed me over a good car with which to finish off the race.”
