ProSpeed TestDayLeMans16 57Corvette 3LE MANS (FR) - As planned ProSpeed Competition and TEAM AAI completed the test day of the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Corvette C7.R boasting its new livery covered its first meters on the mythical circuit in the west of France. The Americans Johnny O’Connell and Mark Patterson together with the Brit Oliver Bryant completed the required kilometres and the technical crew of the Belgian structure very quickly had the car in hand. The team is now further preparing for the Le Mans ‘week’, which kicks off on Monday 13th June with the scrutineering and administrative checks on the Place de la République in the heart of historic Le Mans. The actual race takes place on the 18th and 19th June.

ProSpeed TestDayLeMans16 57Corvette 4The 24 Hours of Le Mans test day is not a race against the clock, but a true and intense work day for both the teams and the drivers, ensuring that everyone is 100% prepared to take on the world’s most important endurance race. In addition ProSpeed Competition and Team AAI needed to master the brand new Corvette C7.R and two of the three drivers also needed to complete the mandatory 10 qualifying laps. Neither had the third driver, Mark Patterson, ever driven the American GT and also needed to cover as many kilometres as possible.

Rudi Penders (Team Principal ProSpeed Competition)

"Let’s go back in time. Last season’s winning GT at Le Mans arrived from the US on Monday and we therefore had to work day and night to get to know the car, a car entirely different from the Porsche we traditionally worked with. This is our 7th participation at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the first one where we are not working with Porsche. We further developed our learning curve here at Le Mans and the presence of Johnny O’Connell, a multiple winner of LM GTE with Corvette, is of enormous importance here. As such that was a first major element, whilst the second concerned the regulations. Any driver who has not competed at Le Mans in the previous four seasons, which also counts for the ‘rookies’, must cover 10 mandatory laps on the test day. Johnny needed to do that, as also Oliver Bryant. This is a compulsory, but also an extremely important assignment, which makes the participation possible. Mark Patterson also needed to get to know the car. Assignment fulfilled."

The large crowd gathered there will have the opportunity to discover the partners of this sporting and human adventure that is Le Mans each year. These include Duncan Taylor Artisanal, Jazz, Buddy Club, CCH and Asset Advantage. Buddy Club is Team AAI’s fixed partner. The company is involved in the aftersales market of the automotive industry.
