24 HOURS OF ZOLDER - REVIEW

PROSPEED AND PORSCHE ALSO BEAT THE DISTANCE RECORD

ZOLDER (B) – The overall highlight of these 24 Hours of Zolder 2012 was undoubtedly the fierce duel between the winning car and the “Goossens-Soulet-Redant-Bouvy” quartet. The most difficult endurance race in Europe came to its conclusion at the end of Sunday morning. The intense pace and the overwhelming heat hovering over the Limburg circuit were two factors that considerably increased the brake wear, which required more frequent changing. Up until then the Porsche 911 GT3-R in the colours of Century 21-Alcra Flash-Spike Communications had dominated the race. After an epic 24 hours the German GT finally finished second… and at the same time beating the record for the number of laps completed.

PROSPEED COMPETITION JOINS THE BATTLE

GRÂCE-HOLLOGNE – An undeniable event of the Belgian motorsport season, the 24 Hours of Zolder has found its slot in the ProSpeed Competition calendar. A race that the Belgian team will be taking on with the fearsome Porsche 911 GT3-R bearing the livery of Century 21, Alcra Flash and Spike Communications. Four times winner of the event, Marc Goossens will be joined by his ‘partner in crime’ Maxime Soulet… with whom he scored back in 2007. The presence of the fast Bert Redant and Frédéric Bouvy, the team’s ‘in house’ reference driver when it comes to the Belgian Championship, undoubtedly places the Porsche #75 as one of the event’s favourites. In the workshop, annexed to Penders Porsche Centre Liège, Luc Goris and his team are presently fine-tuning the car. What with the other competitors in the GT3 class, as also other Porsche 911s and Prototypes it will be a very open race.

BLANCPAIN ENDURANCE SERIES – 24 HOURS OF SPA

"THE SPIRIT OF COMPETITION” MUST REMAIN THE HALLMARK

FRANCORCHAMPS (B) – The 13th and 20th final positions at the finish of the 24 Hours of Spa will not go down in the annals of ProSpeed Competition. And yet. By competing in one of the most prestigious Belgian events, ProSpeed Competition took on the best European teams. A spectacle where the Liége based team were present in fighting spirit. The Porsche 911 GT3-R manned by the Goossens-Maassen-Hennerici trio were holding a remarkable sixth place around brunch time. The Van Splunteren-Soulet-Derdaele-Bouvy quartet, in the NEC-Soleco-RedBull Mobile colours, continually increased their performances during “double stints” with high strategic value. Unfortunately these would not compensate for the loss of time incurred as the result of a transmission worry (#75) and consecutive suspension breaks (#74) due to multiple contacts with slower competitors during the night. However none of this will deprive the team from celebrating the victory of the Bouvy-Kelders-Coens team in the BRCC endurance race.
